Genealogy Detective provides services to clients interested in uncovering names of ancestors and tracing their family lineages:
The genealogist conducts research by examining analog and digital records from the Caribbean held in the custody of various archives, libraries, civil registry offices, and online repositories. Genealogical and historical methodologies are applied to help understand the histories and context of the people, places, and events. In conclusion, a report is generated for the client.
** It is possible the genealogist may not find information requested.
**If travel to the Caribbean and or Europe is required, an estimated fee and invoice will be submitted separately to client.
**If client requests a copy of a record from an information institution (not digitized), an invoice based on the institution fee will be submitted to the client.
We interview clients in order to uncover key information needed to research family connections. This material helps us strategize and determine what records and resources will best meet the client's information needs. We use Google Play, Zoom, or call the client to conduct the session. The cost is $50 per hour and usually does not exceed one hour. The conversation will not be recorded without the client's permission.
We examine and analyze records at archives, libraries, civil registry offices, and online repositories. The cost is $100 per hour. We recommend 3 hours of research for clients who are just beginning to trace their family history. The cost includes a written report that encompasses detailed findings, analyses, recommendations, and conclusions.
We build a pedigree chart of the client's ancestry up to 7 generations. The cost is $200. Additional generations may be added to the chart for an additional fee. An estimated fee and invoice will be submitted directly to the client.
We transcribe archival records written in cursive or a foreign language (e.g., Spanish or French) into printed English. The cost is $10 per page (approximately 300 words).
